Breakfast ideas – when you’re not a breakfast person

By July 20, 2020No Comments

Does the thought of eating first thing in the morning make your stomach do a little flip? You’re not alone. In fact, a study from Kraft Foods Australia shows that more than half of Australians regularly skip breakfast.

Maybe it comes down to timing issues (that extra hour of sleep DOES sound good…) or maybe it’s the simple fact that you don’t enjoy eating traditional “breakfast” foods.

Unfortunately for you, research also shows that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. According to Better Health, eating breakfast “improves your energy levels and ability to concentrate in the short term, and can help with better weight management, reduced risk of type 2 diabetes and heart disease in the long term”.

The following list could help you to widen your horizons when it comes to the breakfast menu. Jot them down and give them a try next time you are feeling “bleh” about brekkie.

  1. PANCAKES FOR THE WIN

Warm, fresh and filling – just like a hug from mum. Pancakes are not only nutritious (if you make them correctly), they’re also easy-as to prep in advance and can be paired with an endless list of healthy toppings to really get those nutrients in.

If you’re looking to add an extra “oomph”, try mixing your batter with our WPI Natural Vanilla Protein Powder for a yummy vanilla taste and increased protein absorption.

  • AVO GOOD DAY

Avocadoes are an incredibly versatile food that can be incorporated into a breakfast, lunch or dinner. In the morning time, on toast with a dash of olive oil and salt is a simple go-to. Or, try adding a dash of tomato for a classic take on bruschetta. It might feel more like an appetizer at an Italian restaurant, but hey – whatever floats your boat!

  • A SIMPLE SMOOTHIE

Brekkie on the run? You got it. Try mixing our 100% Natural Vegan Plant Protein Powder with water, milk or your favourite milk alternative for an easy breakfast-that-doesn’t-seem-like-breakfast. You’ll still be getting something into your stomach to keep you going, until you’re ready for a more substantial mid-morning snack.

  • PROTEIN BALL OR BAR

If you’re a self-confessed coffee addict, try a raw or baked protein ball or bar instead of a cookie next time you’re reaching for that morning caffeine fix. Typically these treats contain fruits, nuts and other healthy ingredients so you’ll be getting in those morning nutrients – with minimal effort.

Even better – create delish chocolate-flavoured versions of these at home using our WPI Natural Chocolate Protein Powder if you want to know EXACTLY what’s going into your body.

  • WHATEVER YOU WANT

In many places in the world, breakfast food is no different to the food eaten at lunch or dinnertime. Realistically, if the food you choose to eat first is healthy and nutritious – what’s stopping you eating it in the morning?

You’ve likely heard the saying “eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper”. Well, now’s the time to put that into action.

We hope you took something away from the above article. Remember, the list is endless when it comes to breakfast ideas – but if you are looking for nutritional supplements that are easy to incorporate no matter what – look no further than Trilogy Nutrition.
