What do successful people do everyday?

By April 3, 2019No Comments

It is easy to think successful people wake up and achieve miraculous things everyday. Although subjective, where one persons idea of success is different to another’s, there are some shared tips and commonalities to leading a successful life.

Whether Steve Jobs, Walt Disney or Bill Gates are the first to come to mind when you think of the idea of success, there are a few daily lifestyle changes you can make to help up your game.

Check out the 6 tips below from some of the most successful individuals around in the world!

Be Productive, Not Busy

Being “busy” can often allude to procrastination or “mental laziness.” Running around like a headless chicken all day, going from one job to the other may feel as though you are getting a lot done. But in actuality, the standard of your work may be compromised as well as what you’re actually achieving.

Take Care of your Mind and Body

Taking care of your mind and body are inter-related. If you look at the lifestyle of some of the most successful individuals around the world, they all exercise at least once a day.

Take ex US president Barak Obama and Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey as two pertinent examples. Barak Obama runs 3 miles everyday or exercises for 45 mins per day, 6 times a week. Whilst Jack Dorsey runs 6 miles everyday followed by an hour of meditation.

Physical exercise boosts serotonin levels; leaving you feeling happier, fitter and more mentally alert. It also allows you to clear your mind and gain mental clarity.

Meditation is an excellent way to also relieve stress and relax the mind in order to clearly focus on achieving your goals. Meditation can also help to enhance sleep, productivity, and creativity.

Fuel Your Mind

Like your body, your mind needs fuelling. To help avoid mental blurs, simple mistakes or lack of motivation, it is important to fuel your body with the right nutrients.

Wake Up Early

Most CEO’s start their day early to exercise, meditate or perform a habitual task that energises them for the work day.

It’s important to note that they try to stick to the same sleep patterns everyday ie. going to bed at the same time and waking up early. Aim for at least 8 hours sleep a night. For more tips on how to get a better night’s sleep click here.

Live a Balanced Life

We’re all guilty of it, but sometimes our work life can take away from our personal life. It’s important to set yourself some boundaries to ensure you get the down time you need to perform your best. Whether it be a work free Sunday or turning the computer off at a set time everyday, it’s important to maintain a work life balance.

Successful people ensure they balance their work life, family life and social life.

Focus on the Positive

Successful people are always optimistic. They focus on the positive and learn from the negative. It is important not to dwell on a downfall, but rather learn from it and alter your future strategy.

Author Tom Corley studied the good and bad habits of 177 self-made millionaires and uncovered the importance optimism and positivity has on success.

“79 percent of rich people, before they became rich, believed they would make it, compared to only 18 percent for the poor. Over half, or 54 percent, of the rich credited optimism as critical to their success in life, and nearly three-quarters, or 71 percent, forged the habit of finding things to be grateful for in life.”
